Overview
The South Fork of the Boise is a popular day float through a magnificent basalt canyon cut through the prairie with great scenery. The river begins flat and mellow as it flows through a wide desert canyon. After a mile or two, sheer basalt cliffs close in on the banks. Rapids are mostly class II-III, including Raspberry and Devil's Hole, which can be spotted from upstream. After this the river picks up and is a splashy class II-III ride almost all the way to the take-out.
