Overview
Meridian, located 10 miles west of Boise, is a rapidly growing city of more than 72,000 residents. With 10 city parks and a public swimming pool, as well as entertainment hotspots including Roaring Springs Water Park, the northwest's largest water park, Boondocks Fun Center with mini-golf, go-carts, bumper boats and a large arcade, Meridian Speedway Stockcar Racetrack and the Majestic Theaters, Meridian has a lot to choose from. The city is also home to the Meridian Symphony Orchestra and the New Heritage Theater Company. In June, Meridian celebrates its heritage with the Dairy Days Festival, and in the fall harvest time is commemorated with the Scarecrow and Harvest Festival. Both feature arts and crafts, as well as food, free entertainment and hands-on activities for kids. The city's rural history is displayed in a one-room school house called the Pine Street School and a historical marker in Storey Park explains how Meridian got its name from the main survey line for the state.
