Overview
Lowman is located along the South Fork of the Payette River, on Highway 21 and the Wildlife Canyon Scenic Byway. A deep canyon created by the powerful Payette River is a natural marvel. The steep canyon walls provide shelter for wildlife throughout the area and waterfalls drop through narrow canyon walls. Wildlife is abundant in the Lowman area. Trout, bears, cougars and eagles roam in the summer, and large herds of elk and deer graze in the winter. Lowman has abundant snow for snowmobilers in the winter months and summer homes recently have popped up in the area. National Forest Service campgrounds are accessible to all travelers and Grandjean, a rustic resort, is located east of Lowman. To relax, scout out the rustic hot springs in the area, as well as a commercial hot springs, at Silver Creek on the Middle Fork of the Payette River.
